This has been making the rounds recently and as a fan of Willie Nelson and a pro-legalization guy, I feel I gotta do my part and pass it along. Though, I’d point out (as others have) that while Willie admits he may have smoked before the interview, that doesn’t mean he’s high or stoned as the title indicates. Even still, go Willie. Saw him again last week. Keep meaning to write up something about it.
So here’s the thing, I still need a name for the EP. Give me one in the comments here. Should I turn this into a contest where the winner gets something?
You probably need to know a bit about the EP you’re naming.
Thematically, it’s about geeky things. The first song is about geeky girls. It’s called “I Don’t Make Passes at Girls who Don’t Wear Glasses.” You see where I’m going with that one, right?
Then, in no particular order, the songs (and their geeky subjects) are: Please Come Home (a sci-fi tale of working on the moon) Frankly, Mr Turner (goths listening to indie rock) Selina, I’m a Wreck (Catwoman and cosplayers) Maureen (a go-go dancer with an unsexy name)
Allen and I wrapped up vocals last night and I listened to some rough mixes. I think it all sounds great. After wrapping, we went to La Cave for a couple of drinks and found ourselves in a crazy, packed house of people there for a DJ. It wasn’t really our scene. We shouted back and forth at each other anecdotes about indie rock and guitar gear, drank a couple of beers and headed home.
I generally respond to mash-ups that use “Enter Sandman” with jaded derision but this clip of Lady GaGa’s “Telephone” and Metallica’s over-played hit is really well done. I love the build-ups and the chopped up guitars and the house beat and the Jay-Z. It’s all good.
